Celtic claimed three points against Aberdeen on a day where one of their greatest players was remembered.

The past was thought of at Parkhead this afternoon on what was a poignant occasion in Glasgow's East End.

Celtic icon Bertie Auld's funeral was held this week and one final tribute was made in the Lisbon Lion's honour as the Hoops beat Aberdeen.

Jota opened the scoring to continue his hot streak of form, but Lewis Ferguson threw a spanner in the works by dispatching a Dons penalty.

But Callum McGregor's effort after half-time put the Hoops back on track for victory.

It was perhaps fitting this fixture occurred on the same day that legendary captain Scott Brown returns to where he once roamed but in the red of Aberdeen for the first time.

It was an emotional occasion but Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou kept his side's eyes on the prize.

Rangers could have been seven points clear in the Premiership so victory for the Hoops was imperative.

Meanwhile, Stephen Glass' Dons needed a positive result to make sure they didn't themselves eighth and two points above 11th – the relegation play-off spot.

Defeat leaves them in a precarious position.
